What's new at the abbey?

Exhibitions 2016

The 2016 Exhibition is dedicated to the Austrian Archducal Hat on the occasion of the 400-year jubilee of its endowment (5 March to 15 November 2016). The exhibition “Splendour of the East” shows art works by Christian goldsmiths and icons from Bulgaria (11 May to 31 July 2016). A selection of valuable manuscripts from the monastery library is presented in the exhibition “Monastery, Emperors and Scholars” in the abbey museum (until 30 June 2016).

Procedure for guided tours

1. REGISTRATION
Please register your tour at tours@stift-klosterneuburg.at or call visitor reception at 02243/411-212 (at least one day before your scheduled tour). Please inform us whether you need Silent Voice devices, whether you will guide the tour yourself or if you wish to have a member of the art expert team of Klosterneuburg Monastery as a tour guide.
2. BUS
For easy access to the Monastery, you can let your guests get on or off the bus in the car park of the Vinotheque (P2). We ask you to afterwards park the bus in the garage P1 (see access plan).
3. BARRIER-FREE ACCESS
For wheelchair users we recommend access via Stiftsplatz (we will gladly ask the concierge to open the gate to allow access for vehicles. Please park in the garage.)
There are two elevators. One elevator takes visitors from the garage (car parking level) to the Sala terrena. The other goes from the Sala terrena to the level of the Stiftsplatz and then up to the Imperial Rooms on the 1st Floor. There are two stair lifts available for access to the different levels in the mediaeval cloister area.
Unfortunately, the gardens and the museum in the Imperial Wing do not have barrier-free access.
Guide dogs for the blind are welcome in all areas of the monastery!
4. VISITING THE CHURCH
Please note that during Divine Office, Mass and other liturgical ceremonies it is not always possible to visit/enter the monastery church. The church will be closed to visitors 30 minutes before services. We ask you to kindly contact the visitor reception beforehand for information. Thank you for your understanding.
