Photo art in the vinotheque

Since its beginnings, Klosterneuburg Monastery has been in close contact with artists, from Nikolaus, goldsmith in the town of Verdun, the creator of the Verdun Altar, to the Austrian painter Egon Schiele. To this day the monastery places great value on the connection with contemporary artists.

Since 2014, twice a year the Vinotheque of Klosterneuburg has been the venue of photographic exhibitions with a theme focus on food, drink, pleasure and nature.

In 2016, exhibitions of the works of Peter Burgstaller and Martin Seidenschwann are on display.

Peter Burgstaller “Different” – Landscape photography

14 April 2016–3 July 2016

Born in 1970, Peter Burgstaller worked as a graphic designer and art director before dedicating himself completely to photography. The photographs in the exhibited series are “different” in that they have been created in a season that is usually not considered inviting, or deliberately taken in inclement weather.

20 Oct. 2016– 30 Jan. 2017

The Viennese photo artist Martin Seidenschwann originally worked in advertising and has employed various forms of artistic expression. The photo series exhibited at the Vinotheque shows how various dishes and drinks are prepared, arranged, served and presented.
